At GOLFTEC you’ll build a relationship with a golf coach who not only provides game-changing golf lessons, but also encourages your success and genuinely cares about your progress.

Each of our Certified Personal Coaches is an experienced golf professional, and passionate about improving your game. Most have taught thousands of lessons.

All go through the rigorous multi-week certification of GOLFTEC University where they master the analysis of golf mechanics, the technology of the GOLFTEC training system, and the most productive teaching techniques. 

Their teaching is regularly reviewed and refined for maximum effectiveness. You’ll enjoy having a golf Coach more than a golf instructor, who cares as much about your game as you do.

Michael Owen

Certified Personal Coach

Hometown: Aberystwyth

Michael is one of the few golf professionals holding both British PGA and PGA of America Quarter Century Member Class A qualifications. He has represented Wales and Great Britain, and has won three tournaments in Europe and USA. In 1995, he started teaching at the famed Torrey Pines Golf Course in California, where a few years later he became the lead coach at the facility. Whilst at Torrey Pines, Michael has taught a number of PGA and European Tour players including Major Champions John Daly and Rich Beem, Ryder Cup Winner Phillip Price and PGA Tour Winners Pat Perez, Robert Gomez and Jason Gore. In 2019, Michael was named one of the top three coaches in the Asia Pacific Region by the Asia Pacific Golf Association.

Cairn Patrick

Hometown: Yorkshire, England

Born in the UK, Cairn was brought up in Africa. While living in Tanzania he was actively involved in teaching orphan juniors to play golf with his coach at the time. Cairn obtained his PGA Qualification in Belgium and is a Class AA Member of the South Africa PGA. During his time in Africa, he worked towards playing in the Kenyan Open On the Sunshine Tour. He has also worked with the top Egyptian amateur. He has taught golf in countries such as Belgium, The Congo, Tanzania, Egypt and Vietnam. 

He joined the GOLFTEC Hong Kong Team in 2018 and has over 20,000 lessons under his belt. Besides English he can also speak Dutch and Swahili.

Rob Jesus

Hometown: Madeira, Portugal

Rob is a British PGA certified golf coach with a deep passion for the game and over a decade of experience honed at prominent performance centres in Lisbon and London. Combining his academic background in tournament golf and PGA training at the university of Birmingham, Rob empowers golfers of all skill levels to achieve confidence and competence on the course. 

His unique approach focuses on self-diagnosis, equipping players with the tools to identify and correct their own swing mechanics. Rob's clear instructions and patient demeanor cultivate a supportive learning environment, making him a valuable asset for golfers seeking to unlock their full potential. 

Andy Liu

Hometown: Hong Kong

Andy achieved academic distinction in “Sport Coaching Science (Tournament Golf) BSc” from Birmingham Newman University in the UK and acquired "Initiator Golf" certification from VVG in Belgium. He is 4-time Junior Club Champion at Westgolf, Belgium and competed for multiple seasons on Junior Tour and Junior Masters in Belgium. He excelled on the Birmingham Newman University Golf Team and achieved 2 division promotions. For his thesis, Andy utilised Qualisys 9-camera 3D motion capture to research "The Influence of Different Driver Shaft Lengths on X-Factor of the Golf Swing." His studies have culminated in a profound comprehension of Biomechanics and Sport-Psychology in golf. He is fluent in English, Cantonese, Dutch, and has moderate proficiency in Mandarin, French.

Patrick Wong

Hometown: Markham, Ontario

Patrick is a graduate of the Humber College PGM Program and has attained his PGA of Canada Class A Membership. He has also attained the NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) Level 1&2. Through his experiences working at a private club he has had the opportunity to teach students of all levels.

Joined GOLFTEC Richmond Hill Toronto in 2020, Patrick has taught over 15,000 lessons. Patrick is excited to join the GOLFTEC Hong Kong where he ultimately wants to help all students play their best golf.

Alex Murrell

Hometown: Pembury, UK

Before turning professional, Alex was the Faldo Series National Champion, which led to a week with Sir Nick Faldo in Florida. He also won the Eden Club Championship five times (2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005) and served as Junior County Captain in 2001, where he was both the County Junior and Men's Champion that same year.

With a handicap of +2.6, Alex represented England at the schools level and is a member of the British PGA. He studied Golf Studies at the University of Birmingham. Alex has taught golfers of all levels in the UK, Turkey, and Guernsey, adapting his coaching style to meet the unique needs of each student. His passion for the game and dedication to helping others improve have made him a sought-after instructor.

Toby Wood

Toby is a British PGA certified golf coach. Before joining GOLFTEC HONG KONG, Toby spent several years teaching players on the ADT, China Tour, and Toyota Tour in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. He also ran his own academy in the scenic Cotswolds, England. With an engineering degree and PGA training from the University of Birmingham, Toby possesses a unique blend of technical expertise and coaching ability, allowing him to address his students' needs in both instruction and equipment.

His teaching approach is always encouraging, fostering a positive environment where students can learn and thrive at any level. Toby is dedicated to making the learning process enjoyable and effective, helping golfers achieve their personal goals.
